Harold Woods
Harold was a life member of Stevenage Cricket Club and played at the club from his youth through to ten years ago when he played his last game aged 72. He retired only
then because he was forced to due to a broken bone in his wrist. In the 1950s Harold was diagnosed with arthritis and from then on he viewed every subsequent game, of which there
turned out to be many, as a bonus.
As well as being a local cricketer of great repute, Harold had other talents and after his retirement from the game he spent more time on his
other interests. He turned to bowls, but also wrote a book about village/town cricket in the mid 20th Century and getting involved in exhibitions of his painting. He loved playing
snooker and spent time looking after the disabled. Harold remained a staunch supporter of the club and will be missed at the 2002 AGM, as he was everpresent at those previous.

Mike Davidson
Mike was a former playing member and Alleynes School teacher. He was a member for over 40 years and an honorary vice president. He died aged 66 and played in the Club's 1st XI in the
1960s. Roy Cross was his 1st team captain and remembers Mike as a highly efficient wicketkeeper and that in their side, while opportunities for stumpings were infrequent, whenever they
arose Mike took them with alacrity. He was someone with a strong sense of duty and personal responsibility. At Alleynes he ran the U-15 XI, coaching and umpiring their matches. |

Joe Hetterley and Molly Hetterley
Joe was a Life Member and former President of the Club and Molly was his wife. Both were well respected and held in high esteem throughout the club. Their son Jim was a former playing member.

Phyllis Stocks
Phyllis was an honorary vice president and a staunch supporter of the club, of her husband Cyril who was a former Chairman and of her son Trevor who was a 1st XI bowler. She is remembered with
great affection.

Mike Hammond
Mike was the son of honorary vice presidents Cyril and Gwen Hammond and was a very active local sportsman. He played cricket for the club between 1955 and 1967. He died in the USA aged only 58.

Mike Williams
A 1st XI opening batsman in the 1960s he once scored seven hundreds in one season.

Alan Brown
The brother of Club Captain Ian and son of Muriel Brown, Alan was a keen supporter of his two nephews Gary and Laurie. His family have provided a bench at the ground in his memory.

John Buckingham
A social member who died in his early fifties. His son Adam was a former colt cricketer at Stevenage
