To all Stevenage Cricket Club members.
Firstly I would like to thank you all for voting at the recent AGM to be your new President. At this point I would like to thank Ian Brown for all he has done for the club in the last 10 years as president during some difficult times, personally and as a world.
It is a huge honour and privilege to be your President and hopefully I can do the role justice in moving the club forward over the coming years.
Most of the members know who I am but there will be some new and old members who left the club before my time so here is a brief history of my time at Stevenage Cricket Club.
I joined Stevenage in 2003 having played at Hatfield Hyde for 25 years when work and family commitments made the travelling to much having lived in Stevenage since 1984.
My children were already playing in the junior section, so I started helping with the coaching and playing in the 2nd team. I captained the 2nd team for many seasons and when not captain played in the 1st team.
I have represented Hertfordshire Seniors at over 50’s and in 2017 toured South Africa with a England 50’s counties team playing at the Newlands ground. I am now the captain of Hertfordshire over 60’s 1st team.
I have been heavily involved with the committee for many years in various roles including club captain and as league rep. I am currently the groundsman for the club which I really enjoy making the ground look as good as it can.
I look forward to meeting as many of you during the summer.
Once again thank you for this honour of being your President.
Martin Nevill
