3 wins in 3 league games for Stevenage 1st XI keeps us joint top of the league alongside Chorleywood.
For the third time in a row, captain Conor Hayward lost the toss and, this time, was asked to bowl first. Very quickly, this worked out well for Stevenage, when Kosaraju (4-29) took a double wicket maiden in the first over of the match, including a stunning catch from Scott Davies at Gully. This set the tone for the innings, with the Stevenage side showing a relentless attitude to stay on top of the opposition. Only Berkhamsted captain Luke Frey (66) managed to show any resilience for the away side, enabling a modest total of 137. Other call outs for Anil (2-18), Pawar (2-33) and Mackay (1-21), who led the line superbly.
Stevenage started the chase strongly, with both openers Stanciu (22) and Carr (27) punishing some loose bowling and even turning good balls into seemingly average deliveries. A few wickets fell in relatively quick succession, but it was for the men in form, Davies (30) and Mike Tyler (36*), to take the game away from the opposition and lead Stevenage towards the another W. The victory came in 34.2 overs with 5 wickets falling.
Another superb team performance this week, rolling onto the next match, Watford away.
