On the hottest day of the year Suman lost the toss and Harpenden chose to bat first.
Phil and Suman opened the bowling on absolute belter of a batting track and the Harpenden openers took advantage of any loose deliveries. Change bowler Dan took over from Suman he got the vital break through bowling Hooper for 43 with the score at 71-1 after 14 overs.
Carl replaced Phil after bowling 8 tight overs. Carl soon took a wicket Anjani taking a good catch. Harpenden continued to score at a good rate with Whiteley reaching 69 in a stand of 80 with Bradley. Anjani our leg spinner was brought into the attack and soon got his rewards bowling his 10 overs taking 3-48 including an excellent stumping by Luke . Suman replaced Carl ending his spell 2-34. Stevenage fought back well to restrict Harpenden to a par score of 224 when it looked like we would be chasing 250 plus. Wickets were shared around Phil 1-28 Suman 2-56 Dan 2-39 Carl 2-34 Anjani 3-48.
Anjani and Juju opened the batting and we were soon in trouble losing both openers with the score on 13. Mat was joined at the crease Dave who adjudged lbw with the ball high and going leg side 13-3. John was out next 29-4. Mat was next out after making a good 29 score now 44-5. Luke and Ryan then had a good partnership of 44 before Luke 19 was bowled 88-6 Ryan 23 soon followed caught 93-7 Dan 4 was next out caught bowled 97-8 Carl 0 was out lbw 100 -9. Suman was joined at the crease with Phil, Suman taking a liking to there bowling the last pair managed to add 45 to earn 3 extra batting points, Suman top scoring with 34* when Phil 4 was caught behind.
A very disappointing batting display by Stevenage unable to build any sort of partnerships.
