Stevenage 3s suffer disappointing defeat against Weston 1s

...

On one of the warmest day to play cricket temperatures hovering around 28 Degrees Celsius, Stevenage captain chose to bowl first having won the toss.

As expected, Weston opening pair made full use of flat track, fast outfield. Opening pair briskly put on 50 run partnership in no time at healthy runrate just over 6.
This forced change in bowling from both the ends. With flourishing opening partnership Weston quickly moved beyond 75 mark.
A beautiful in swinging delivery from Dilip castled bottom of leg stump of left handed no.1 batsman.
No 2 and no 3 started rebuilding the innings. A Rather tired looking shot from left handed no 2 batsman costed his wicket.
Soon no.3 and no.4 batsmen, Weston best batting pair took on Stevenage bowling attack and carted us all around the park. Boundaries laced with quick singles and doubles made Stevenage fielders ran out of gas. Body sapping heat made things worst.
A lucky breakthrough of No.3 batsman in Jonty's bowling gave us a little respite. But their prime batsman no.4 continued his good run with bat.
Change in bowling brought Swetang to bowl from pavilion end and luke McCabe from other end. Their no.4 batsman put on his batting skills show and soon reached his Half century. Weston continued their brisk scoring at healthy run rate 5.50 runs per over.
Around 180+ runs on board, a sharp catch by Manju at backward Square sent their highest scoring batsman back to pavilion. This is followed by quick two wickets gave Stevenage 3s a glimmer of hope to bundle them out quickly. But these hopes were soon dried out by an intelligent and intent partnership between no.6 and no.8 batsmen. They put on 50 run partnership.
Eventually, Stevenage 3s managed to grab all 10 wickets for 279.
With slow over rate, Stevenage 3s fielders spent 30 mins more under scorching sun. It dint helped our cause.
--------------------------
Stevenage 3s opened their batting with S Mathur and C Paruchuri. Both the openers started cautiously. Soon, S Mathur adjourned LBW, his third for the season.
Manju prompted to no.3 to keep scoreboard ticking while C Paruchuri continued to stand tall at other end.
No.2 and No.3 batsman, put on 40+ run partnership but living dangerously with some close calls.
C Paruchuri gloved to wicket keeper in an attempt to guide the ball behind the square. He was soon followed by Manju for a miscued reckless pull shot off fourth stump. This had opened flood gates to Weston.
Stevenage 3s batsmen made Weston bowlers job easy with NO intent to stay at the crease and play for themselves.
Batsmen made a little parade of themselves and soon skittle out to 132 in 29 overs.
Some entertaining shots by Jonty and Andy L in the end lifted our spirit.

Overall, it was a disappointing batting performance from Stevenage batters. No intent to stay in the middle and build a partnership. Ordinary bowling performance allowed opponents to score big.

Fielding first for 50 overs and close to 3hrs and 25mins dint helped our cause.

Next game we are playing home against cheshunt Rosedale table toppers.
